Associate Dean for Honors Carolina and Director of the James M. Johnston Center for Undergraduate Excellence
Dean Leloudis provides overall leadership for Honors Carolina and the Johnston Center for Undergraduate Excellence. He is an award-winning professor of History whose teaching and research focus on late-19th and 20th-century America. Dean Leloudis graduated from Carolina in History with highest honors, and then earned a master’s degree at Northwestern University and a PhD from Carolina.
Assistant Dean for Honors Carolina
Dean Kendall coordinates the selection of Honors Carolina students and is responsible for Honors course programming and extracurricular activities. He is an award-winning English professor who has served as Director of Undergraduate Studies, Director of Graduate Studies, and Assistant Chair of the Department of English and Comparative Literature. Dean Kendall earned his undergraduate degree from Yale, and then master’s and PhD degrees at Harvard.
Director of the Office of Distinguished Scholarships
Mary Floyd-Wilson is a scholar, instructor, and mentor who works closely with students applying for nationally competitive fellowships and awards. She is an award-winning professor of English Literature and most recently served as Director of Graduate Studies for English. Professor Floyd-Wilson earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and her master’s and PhD degrees from Carolina.
Director of Burch Programs and Honors Study Abroad
Friederike Seeger provides guidance to students embarking on international experiences and works with faculty to develop new programs around the globe. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and International Business, a master’s degree in International Education and is working on a PhD in Educational Research and Policy Analysis.
Interim Director of Burch Programs and Honors Study Abroad
Gina Difino provides guidance to students embarking on international experiences and works with faculty to develop new programs around the globe. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Grinnell College and a master’s degree in International Education from SIT Graduate Institute.
Associate Director for Curriculum, Recruiting, and Operations, Honors Carolina and the James M. Johnston Center for Undergraduate Excellence
Jason Clemmons leads the Honors Carolina staff and supervises all aspects of the program and the Johnston Center’s daily operations. Jason holds a bachelor’s degree from Carolina.
Associate Director for Student Development and Special Projects, Honors Carolina
Shandol Hoover develops and maintains an active Honors Carolina network that connects currently enrolled students with Honors Carolina alumni, parents, and friends. She also oversees co-curricular programs for Honors Carolina students. Shandol holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Kinesiology from Purdue University and a master’s degree in College Student Personnel from the University of Maryland.
Advising & Career Guide, Honors Carolina
Chad Collins provides guidance to students that fosters their exploration of academic and career goals and helps them seek out meaningful academic and professional development experiences to prepare them for employment or post-graduate study. Chad holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Religion from the University of Rochester, a master’s degree in College Student Personnel Administration from Canisius College, and is MBTI certified.
Program Assistant, Honors Carolina
Erin Marcinowski coordinates an array of student services, from Honors Carolina orientation and course registration to senior Honors thesis reporting. Erin holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mount Olive.
Program Assistant, Office of Distinguished Scholarships and Honors Carolina
Alsace Gallop helps identify and guide students and alumni who are candidates for prestigious national scholarships. She also is a webmaster for Honors Carolina and supports the Burch Fellows Program. Alsace holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree from Carolina.
Event and Client Services Manager, Honors Carolina and the James M. Johnston Center for Undergraduate Excellence
Joyce Worrell is responsible for planning and coordinating all Honors Carolina events, communicating with clients on Graham Memorial reservation space and availability, and managing building access and security. Joyce holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fullerton.
Marketing and International Programming Assistant, Honors Carolina
Aleks Asparuhova assists with marketing, promoting, and recruiting for the various Honors Study Abroad programs and Burch Field Research Seminars offered by Honors Carolina annually. She also helps plan and conduct pre-departure orientations, Study Abroad fairs, and other events related to our international programs. Aleks holds a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Brockport and a master’s degree from SIT Graduate Institute.
