April 4, 2018 @ 7:30 pm

Santería chants, complex rhythms, fluid jazz stylings and nuanced Afro-Cuban soulfulness mark singer/composer Daymé Arocena’s impact on the unfolding history of Cuban music. One of the most inviting ambassadors for the country’s contemporary sound, her virtuosity, charisma and warmth were recognized by the Havana Cultura Mix project, in which producers from around the world recorded in Cuba with local musicians. Her 2016 album One Takes features Horace Silver’s “Gods of Yoruba” among a collection of masterfully reimagined rare covers that further bridge her musical worlds. Learn more here.
