Gary Bishop specializes in Computer Science, and his research focuses on developing accessible, free software for individuals with disabilities and special needs to aid their learning, literacy, and fun. Some of his projects include creating sound-based web games for children with visual impairments and designing an application that allows individuals who are unable to write due to motor impairments to write through an “alternative pencil.” With his PhD from UNC-CH, he has been named a Thorp Faculty Engaged Scholar, and continues connecting his work and teachings to the needs of the community.
