Dr. David Salvesen, Institute for the Environment
Approach:
Connection:

Students will examine major trends and issues in cities today (e.g., population growth and climate change), the implications of these trends and the different ways that cities are adapting. The course will also lay out the principles of sustainability as applied to cities. Throughout the three-week course, students will meet with local planners, elected officials, nonprofit groups, and businesspeople. They will visit sites that reinforce what they learn in daily briefings and assigned readings.
