Committed to
Innovation + Excellence

The James M. Johnston Center for Undergraduate Excellence is a "democracy of learning" open to students, faculty, alumni, and visitors from all corners of the Carolina campus and beyond.

Our mission is to encourage undergraduates’ active engagement with research, scholarship, and artistic endeavor; to promote innovative teaching; and to provide a social setting in which students can engage in thoughtful discussions with professors and classmates.

The Johnston Center’s Morehead Lounge, Educational Foundation Terrace, Kresge Common Room, Julia Child Kitchen, and Grauer Living Room are available to reserve for special events.

Location

The James M. Johnston Center for Undergraduate Excellence is located in Graham Memorial, on the northern edge of campus adjacent to Franklin Street, between McCorkle Place and the Morehead Planetarium.
