Apply To Join Honors Carolina

Incoming Students

Every student who is accepted for admission to Carolina has the opportunity to be considered for Honors Carolina (more details available here). Students who are invited to join Honors Carolina typically receive an invitation within two weeks of being admitted to the University. Students who do not receive an invitation from us within two weeks of admission to the University may apply to the program after completing one or two semesters at UNC Chapel Hill as indicated below.

First Year Students

Students who are not invited to join Honors Carolina as incoming students in Fall 2020 may apply to join the program in January 2021 by completing an online application. The application must include a recommendation for admission from a UNC faculty member with whom you have studied.

Second Year Students

Students may apply to join the program by completing an online application at the beginning of their second year. The application must include a recommendation from a UNC faculty member with whom you have studied.

Transfer Students

Second year transfer students may apply to join Honors Carolina by completing an online application and submitting an official transcript from your previous place of study.

In addition to the application, you must also have a recommendation letter from a faculty member with whom you have studied. Letters from faculty at other colleges and universities must be written on official university letterhead and should be sent to the address below.
