Morehead-Cain Alumni Visiting Distinguished Professor
Honors Carolina students have the opportunity to engage with successful leaders who spend a semester teaching at Carolina and engaging with students on issues of broad intellectual and social significance.
Visiting professors have included:
- Robert Bach (2015): A ’84 graduate who led the development of the Microsoft Xbox.
- Ambassador James Sasser (2014): A former U.S. Senator from Tennessee and U.S. Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.
- Taylor Branch (2012): A ’68 graduate who won the Pulitzer Prize for his acclaimed three-volume history of the civil rights era.
- Sir Christopher Meyer (2010): A former British ambassador to the United States who authored a book on the history of British diplomacy.
The professorship was established with a generous gift from past recipients of the Morehead-Cain Scholarship, the University of North Carolina’s oldest and most prestigious academic merit award.
