Food for Thought: Prof. Morgan Pitelka, Late Medieval & Early Japan

Dr. Morgan Pitelka is a specialist in late medieval and early modern Japan, with focus on material culture, environmental history, and urban history. Dr. Pitelka is the Bernard L. Herman Distinguished Professor and Chair of Department of Asian & Middle Eastern Studies and a professor in the Department of History at UNC Chapel Hill. He is also the Co-Editor of the Journal of Japanese Studies and conducts research through the UNC Japanese History Lab. His current research covers cultural archetypes and national heroes in contemporary Japan, the social history of swords, the history of medicine and healing in Japan and East Asia, and more. Join us to learn more about Dr. Pitelka’s fascinating research. Seats are limited. Dinner will be served.
