Honors Orientation

All incoming first year students attend an orientation session during the summer. We strongly encourage you to register for either the June 25-26 (all slots reserved for Honors Carolina) or the June 27-28 (some slots reserved for Honors Carolina) new student orientation session, where we will offer special programming and support for our students. Attendees at these sessions will enjoy their first chance to forge new friendships with other Honors Carolina participants who share their intellectual curiosity and passion for academic pursuit.

Summer Orientation Registration will open mid-spring. Students attending the June 25-26 or June 27-28 session will:

  • gain a more concrete feel for the campus and Honors Carolina community.
  • learn about campus and program resources.
  • hear from academic advisors.
  • connect with faculty and current students, including an Orientation Leader (OL) and an Honors Carolina Orientation Ambassador.
  • learn what it means to be a Tar Heel.

If a scheduling conflict prevents you from attending one of the sessions above, you are welcome to register for a different first year orientation session.

New Student Orientation also offers a number of opportunities for family members. During the concurrent Family Orientation, participants will hear from numerous university administrators, faculty members, and current students about how to partner with the University to support their students’ success and learning. We welcome and strongly encourage family members and guests to attend Family Orientation and learn about how to get involved at Carolina as a family member. Reservations for Family Orientation should be completed at the same time students complete their New Student Orientation Reservation.
