Drop-In Advising

Drop-in Virtual Advising for Incoming First-Year Honors Students (Class of 2027)

Honors Advisors will be available at select times through May to answer your questions about Honors Carolina, UNC’s general education curriculum (IDEAS in Action), the course catalog, and key online resources. Although we will not be able to register you for classes or help you produce a four-year plan at this time and in this context*, we can offer clarification about certain requirements and programs offered at UNC. This is a great opportunity to potentially meet your future advisor and begin the conversation that will lead you on your particular path to academic success.

*Registration will be open after your Orientation session later this summer. Extended appointments for program planning will begin with the Fall semester.

When: From 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm (ET) on May 3rd, 8th, 15th, 17th, 22nd, and 24th.

How to access:

To use this service, you must first complete the admissions process in order to receive your ONYEN and PID. You will also need to set up your UNC Zoom account, which you can do here: https://edtech.unc.edu/service/zoom/

STEP 1. Sign in to the drop-in queue: https://virtualdropins.oasis.unc.edu/

STEP 2. Click Get Started. You will receive a greeting page that also indicates how many other students are waiting in the queue. Do not exit the queue once you sign in or you will lose your spot in line.

STEP 3. Your student information will populate. Affirm that you understand the scope of what Honors Advisors can do for you at this time. Answer the questions to indicate what you want to discuss with an Advisor.

STEP 4. Click SUBMIT and note you will need to click into the Zoom link on the next page.

STEP 5. Click on the Zoom Link to enter the Zoom space so you can be put into a breakout room with an Advisor.

STEP 6. Open the Zoom link and wait to be put in a breakout room with an Advisor. Please note, if demand is high, we may ask you to try drop-ins on another day.

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. Drop-in advising is neither mandatory nor a condition or your involvement in Honors Carolina! Please do not feel obligated to attend any session if it does not suit your needs at this time.
  2. This is a first-come, first-served service. If it is unlikely that we will be able to see you during the session because of demand, we will try to let you know in real time.
