Sam Trachtenberg (UNC ’94) is the COO of WhereTo, an AI-based travel technology company based in San Francisco. WhereTo is bringing innovation and disruption to business travel- by designing travel solutions for some of the biggest companies in the world. Sam has a background in management consulting working with Fortune 100 companies and in senior Operations roles at tech startups. Most recently and prior to joining WhereTo, Sam was VP of Operations at AdRoll, where he led and scaled Global Operations in seven markets. Prior to AdRoll, he worked as a management consultant with clients such as Dolby, Chevron, AutoDesk, First Republic Bank, Cisco, Bank of America, and eBay. He also worked at Everdream, an early SaaS pioneer, prior to being acquired by Dell. Sam started his career at Accenture for five years, where he logged over 300,000 miles of travel in support of Financial Services clients. Sam has a BS in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a Level 2 Sommelier who enjoys snowboarding, attending live music shows, and traveling to wine regions with his family.  In WhereTo’s two years, the company has hosted three UNC interns and WhereTo is currently looking for summer interns.
