Romantic Literature and Contemporary Issues
Students on the program will explore how landscape shapes literary imagination, and how Romantic conceptions of urban and rural environments are still with us today. London was the center of the modern Western world during the Romantic period of the early 19th century, and it remains a vibrant metropolis, offering an abundance of historical and literary sites that will enrich the group's understanding of Romanticism’s historical context. Oxford, nestled in a bucolic rural setting, showcases a storied academic tradition. Students stay in 14th-century St. Edmund Hall, which over the past four decades has developed a close relationship with the Honors London-Oxford program.
