Early Modern Worlds: Exploration, Colonialism and Violence

This Burch Field Research Seminar is a six-week program that studies English exploration and colonization, taking a close look at how European society functioned and how it was transformed in the New World. The seminar includes a study of the many kinds of violence that existed in Europe and England, including trips to key battle sites in England and guides the student through archival historical research.

This program will not run in 2023. Check back for Summer 2024!

Eligibility

All Burch Field Research Seminars are open to UNC undergraduates (sophomore status or greater) who have a 3.0 GPA.
