Scholarships

grants intended to support specific projects by scholars working in areas important to ASTR’s mission that are currently under-represented in its various activities. Such areas include, but are not limited to, the following: pre-1900 research and Asian, African, Latin American, and Middle Eastern theatre, dance, and performance. Translations of important theatre documents, including plays, will also be considered

Fellowships assist Ph.D. candidates with the expenses of travel to national or international collections to conduct research projects connected with their dissertations. Ph.D. candidates must have passed their qualifying exams within the last two years (or will have passed their qualifying exams by June of the current year) and have begun working on their dissertations. The project must be part of the dissertation research.

Scholarships support graduate students whose goals are to research and develop improved diagnostic techniques and solutions to yield-limiting factors in agronomy. The scholarship offers support for one year.  The focus of the scholarship is on leadership and accomplishments and the nominee’s long-term personal goals to research and develop improved diagnostic techniques and solutions to yield-limiting factors in agronomy.

The purpose of the fellowship is to further the education of worthy students in any civil engineering discipline. Used for first year of graduate study

he purpose of the fellowship is to further the education of worthy civil engineering graduate students engaged in the study of experimental hydraulics.  The J. Waldo Smith Hydraulic Fellowship may be presented annually to not more than two graduate students, who will use the fellowship for tuition, research and living expenses.

The fellowship will apply to the pursuit of full-time studies in eligible academic programs in highway design, traffic operations, roadway safety, and transportation planning with the emphasis on highway design and traffic operations including ITS and influence of Autonomous Vehicles on highway design and traffic operations. Any full-time student who is enrolled in or admitted to an above engineering graduate degree program (master or doctoral) at a qualified university may apply

Awarded to students of any grade to encourage creation of new knowledge in structural design and construction.

Presented annually to two practicing engineers or earth scientists, professors or graduate students, who will use the fellowship for graduate study.The purpose of the fellowship is to further the exploration of new applications of geotechnical engineering or the earth sciences to social, economic, environmental, and political issues.

awarded biennially to recognize the work of an outstanding undergraduate or graduate student who demonstrates an interest and ability in utilizing classical designs and traditional materials, including furniture and fabrics.
