A key component of graduate school and fellowship applications is the personal statement, and the same is true for prestigious award applications. Let the Office of Distinguished Scholarships (ODS) help you as you prepare to make a great first impression with selection committees.

Attend ODS’ Prep-Shop! It’s not a workshop, so do not bring any written portions or drafts. Instead, bring a current resume and/or CV and a friend!

We especially want to see students from all majors and with diverse backgrounds who also are seriously considering applying for the Marshall, Mitchell, and/or Rhodes Scholarships; the Luce Scholars Program; and the Churchill Scholarship in the 2016-2017 academic year.

Professor Mary Floyd-Wilson, ODS Director, will share how you can authentically discuss your goals and accomplishments in your application(s). She will also discuss best practices for both campus (“endorsement”) applicants and endorsed applicants who participate in the national competition for these and other prestigious scholarships and fellowships.
