American Educational Research Association (AERA) – Minority Dissertation Writing Fellowship in Education Research

supports underrepresented  (e.g., African Americans, Alaskan Natives, American Indians, Asian Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, and Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islanders) doctoral students conducting research on education who are at the writing stage of their dissertations. Dissertation topics may include, for example, high stakes testing, ethnic studies curricula, tracking, STEM development, measurement of achievement and opportunity gaps, English language learners, bullying, or restorative justice. The fellowship is for one year. Stipends can be used for tuition and/or institution fees, books, living expenses, equipment, travel, supplies, software, and other expenses that are directly related to conducting the research.

provides advanced graduate students with research funding and professional development and training. The program supports highly competitive dissertation research using rigorous quantitative methods to examine large-scale, education-related data. The aim of the program is to advance fundamental knowledge of relevance to STEM policy, foster significant science using education data, and build research capacity in education and learning. Underrepresented racial and ethnic minority researchers as well as women, individuals with disabilities, and veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.

American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR) / National Institute on Aging (NIA) Medical Student Training in Aging Research (MSTAR) Program

Fellowships support participation in a structured research, clinical, and didactic program in geriatrics that is appropriate to the fellow’s level of training and interests. Research projects are offered in basic, translational, clinical, or health services research. Fellows may carry out their research at a National Training Center supported by the National Institute on Aging or at their own institution if that institution is one of MSTAR’s Participating Schools. The fellowship is for 8-12 weeks (usually in the summer).

This fellowship supports postdoctoral researchers investigating aging and who are uniquely capable of translating advances in basic research from the laboratory to the clinic. The award intends to provide significant research and training support to permit these postdoctoral fellows to become established in the field of aging. Projects should bridge the gap between findings in biomedical research to clinically-relevant findings, treatments, diagnostics and prevention. The fellowship is for one year.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Postdoctoral Research Fellowships

Fellowships support the training of young investigators preparing for independent careers in suicide research. The training can be in either basic or clinical research. Fellows are expected to devote at least 40 hours per week to the training program and may not have any significant clinical or other responsibilities during the funding period. The fellowships are for two years.

The American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) and American Council of the Blind (ACB) have partnered together to offer educational scholarships for those attending a technical college or attending university as an entering freshman, undergraduate, or graduate student. This program awards students with scholarships to help with post-secondary education financial needs. To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants need to be legally blind.

American Geophysical Union (AGU) Congressional Science Fellowship
