American Lung Association Lung Health Dissertation Grant

Fellowships support laboratory, patient-centered and social-behavioral dissertation research designed to prevent and relieve the suffering associated with all lung diseases and corresponding risk factors. Research in the following areas is supported: psychosocial, behavioral, health services and health policy, epidemiology, biostatics, public health, and education research. Fellows should have a long-term commitment to lung disease research. The fellowship provides up to two years of support.

American Medical Association (AMA) Foundation Physicians of Tomorrow Awards Underrepresented in Medicine

The AMA Foundation awards scholarships to minority medical students (African American, Latino/Hispanic, or Native Americans/Native Hawaiians/Alaska Native), approaching their final year of medical school, who demonstrate a dedication to serving vulnerable or underserved populations.

 Applicants do not apply directly to the Foundation but must be nominated by their medical school.

American Meteorological Society (AMS) Postdoctoral Congressional Science Fellowship

Fellowships place highly qualified, accomplished scientists within the offices of individual Members of Congress as well as congressional committees. Fellows serve as regular staff members to those congressional offices, bringing to the Congress new insights, fresh ideas, extensive knowledge, and education in a variety of disciplines while obtaining firsthand experience in the legislative and political process. Fellows participate in a two-week orientation in Washington, D.C., prior to beginning their assignment. The fellowship is for one year.

American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) Anthropology Internship Program

offers academic credit, unpaid and paid internships for undergraduate and graduate students interested in careers in anthropology, museums or related fields. Anthropology interns work on projects relating to the collections or to the ongoing research interests of the curatorial staff in the museum or in the field. The department’s collections and research are focused on North American, Mexican/Central American and South American archaeology and ethnology; Asian, African and Pacific ethnology; and Biological Anthropology. In addition, internships are awarded in collections management, archives and conservation.

American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) Chapman Small Grant Program

awards grants to graduate students for short-term studies in avian evolutionary biology. Topics can include: 1) systematics, evolution and morphology, 2) comparative evolutionary physiology, endocrinology and behavior, or 3) evolutionary ecology or population biology. The research can be conducted in any location. Applicants must be pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree in avian evolutionary biology.
