American Psychological Association (APA) Predoctoral Fellowship in Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services (MHSAS) for Ethnic Minorities

Fellowships support research related to ethnic minority mental health and to improve the quality of mental health and substance abuse services delivered to ethnic minority populations. This fellowship is for up to 3 years, and must be renewed annually. This fellowship program is designed for students in clinical, counseling and school psychology, and other psychology doctoral students whose training prepares them for careers in behavioral health services.

Fellowships support doctoral and postdoctoral research on the history and culture of Egypt in a broad range of field, including anthropology, archaeology, architecture, art and art history, Coptic Studies, economics, Egyptology, history, humanistic social sciences, Islamic Studies, literature, political science, and religious studies.

The United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational & Cultural Affairs (ECA) 
3-12 month fellowship supports doctoral candidates (ABD) and postdoctoral scholars. U.S. citizenship is required.

National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) 
4-10 month fellowship supports postdoctoral scholars. Open to U.S. citizens and to foreign nationals who have been residents of the United States for three consecutive years immediately preceding the application deadline

Fellowships support postdoctoral research on the history and culture of Egypt in a broad range of field, including anthropology, archaeology, architecture, art and art history, Coptic Studies, economics, Egyptology, history, humanistic social sciences, Islamic Studies, literature, political science, and religious studies. All scholars conducting research with ARCE’s administrative or financial support require security clearance from the Egyptian government (see website for restrictions). Fellowships are not intended to support participation as an archaeological expedition member. The fellowship is for 4-12 months.

American Research Institute in Turkey (ARIT) / National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Postdoctoral Fellowship for Research in Turkey

ARIT offers fellowships to postdoctoral scholars engaged in all periods of history in Turkey, including humanistically oriented aspects of the social sciences, prehistory, history, art, archaeology, literature, and linguistics, as well as interdisciplinary aspects of cultural history. The fellowship offers support for four to twelve contiguous months.

American Research Institute in Turkey (ARIT) Summer Fellowship for Intensive Advanced Turkish Language Study in Istanbul

Summer fellowships for intensive advanced Turkish language study at Bogaziçi University in Istanbul. The program offers the equivalent of one full academic year of study in Turkish at the college level. Courses are conducted in Turkish, with informal and formal styles introduced and reviewed through instruction, language laboratory work, and open conversations with teaching assistants. Participants also attend extracurricular activities including films, lectures and cultural events both on- and off-campus. Includes: Round-trip airfare to Istanbul, application and tuition fees, and maintenance stipend.

American School of Classical Study at Athens (ASCSA) Graduate & Postdoctoral Fellowships

ASCSA offers fellowships for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars from affiliated North American colleges and universities (including the University of Illinois) for research and study in Greece. Research topics include all aspects of Greek culture, from antiquity to the present day. ASCSA also hosts scholars funded through the U.S. Department of State Fulbright programs, the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC), and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).
