Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) / Center for Disease Control (CDC) Bioinformatics Fellowship

The program is a one-year full-time working fellowship for master’s- and doctoral- level bioinformaticians. Postdoctoral fellows may extend for an additional year, provided funding is available. The fellowship aims to train and prepare bioinformaticians to apply their expertise within public health and design tools to aid existing public health personnel in the use of bioinformatics. Fellows receive a stipend, allowances for: required medical insurance, travel to the host laboratory, professional development; and complimentary student membership to APHL.

Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) / Center for Disease Control (CDC) Environmental Public Health Lab Fellowship

he program is a one-year full-time working fellowship for bachelor’s- or master’s-degree level scientists, with the option for a second year providing available funding. Fellows are placed in local and state public health laboratories throughout the US to receive training in bench-level laboratory skills and methods and assist with high-priority environmental health testing, surveillance, and exposure assessment. Fellows will gain an understanding of the public health laboratory system and how it relates to environmental health, exposure reduction, surveillance and intervention. Once in their host laboratories, fellows are supervised by an experienced mentor and work on bench-level projects proposed by the host laboratory. Fellows may have opportunities to collaborate with federal (CDC) public health laboratories. a full-time working fellowship for doctorate-degree level scientists; the fellowship duration is two years (pending funds). Fellows are placed in state public health laboratories throughout the US to receive training in bench-level laboratory skills and methods, and assist with newborn screening laboratory operations and research. Once in their host laboratories, fellows are supervised by an experienced mentor and work on bench-level projects proposed by the host laboratory. Fellows receive a stipend, allowances for medical insurance and professional development, and complimentary student membership to APHL.

Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Kaleidoscope Program

Kaleidoscope Program supports students from historically underrepresented groups in building careers in academic and research libraries and archives. The fellowship lasts two years and includes a formal mentoring component, funding for research and career-building activities, and career placement assistance.

Association of Research Libraries / Society of American Archivists (ARL/SAA) Mosaic Graduate Scholarship Program

The ARL/SAA Mosaic program promotes diversification of the archives and special collections professional workforce by providing financial support, practical work experience, mentoring, career placement assistance and leadership development to emerging professionals from underrepresented racial and ethnic minority groups. The scholarship offers support for two years.

he goal of the ASPPH Environmental Health Fellowship Program is to provide professional training and opportunities for early career public health professionals by enabling them to work in EPA on current and emerging environmental public health needs. These placements will be for one year, with a possible one-year extension. The program capitalizes on an important interdependence between the academic public health community and the EPA, one of the most important public health agencies in the world. EPA leads the nation’s environmental science, research, education and assessment efforts.

a unique training opportunity offered to graduates of CEPH-accredited schools and programs of public health. The selected fellow(s) will work with national experts in injury prevention and motor vehicle and highway safety issues to examine the causes and etiology of motor vehicle crashes and injuries. The selected fellow(s) will work with experienced professionals in NHTSA to learn all components of the comprehensive approach to traffic safety; develop a thorough understanding of the shared missions between public health, traffic safety, and injury prevention; and experience working within a Federal agency on projects affecting the public health of the entire Nation.

The fellowship places early career public health professionals within the Foundation’s headquarters in Bethesda, MD, in order to learn about the field of public health philanthropy through active participation and deep practical application. These areas include, but are not limited to, program development, strategic planning, grants review and monitoring, and data analysis and scientific inquiry. Fellows are required to relocate to the DC/Maryland/Virginia area. The fellowship offers support for one year.
