Scholarships

The Better Scientific Software Fellowship Program supports activities that improve developer productivity and software sustainability of scientific codes. Activities can include organizing a workshop, preparing a tutorial, or creating content to engage the scientific software community. Funding can be used to support effort in developing and delivering content, including travel. The fellowship offers one year of support.

Three month fellowships for international legal academics and scholars to conduct research. The fellowship covers airfare, accommodation for a week, and a modest subsistence allowance.

awarded for one academic year of full-time, intensive language study of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Khmer or Burmese at the advanced level in approved language programs in East or Southeast Asia.

A 4-6 week paid internship with a major US broadcasting corporation is awarded for the best original essay response submitted to the competition and recognizes a student with the potential to become an innovator in the rapidly changing field of broadcast radio.

a panel of NEA Jazz Master judges selects the winner based on evidence of talent and potential as a jazz performer and composer, and the scholarship is presented at BMI’s annual celebration of NEA Jazz Masters Fellows

open to student songwriters and composers of contemporary musical genres including alternative, pop, rock, indie, electronica, R&B, and experimental, for the best original songs submitted to the competition

competition for best original song open to student songwriters of country music and related genres, including Americana, blues, bluegrass, contemporary Christian, folk, and roots. The award was established in 2015 by BMI to celebrate the company’s 75th Anniversary year, and pays homage to musical epicenter and “Songwriting Capital of the World,” Nashville, Tennessee.

annual competition open to student songwriters and composers for the best original song or instrumental composition in any Latin genre. The judging panel comprises several prominent Latin music songwriters, publishers, and administrators.

competitive residency for aspiring film, television, and video game composers. The program awards a stipend for four to five weeks of intensive, in-studio mentorship with established composers in Los Angeles, and also offers the opportunity to consult with other distinguished leaders in the entertainment industry. Must be 21 years old and pursuing a career in TV, film, and/or video game composition

competition open to young composers engaged in the study of classical music. Awards are determined annually for vocal, instrumental, and/or electronic compositions submitted by students of classical music
