Scholarships

for scholars in the history of science, technology or medicine who would like to use collections at two or more institutions in the Consortium. Dissertation and Postdoctoral Fellows use offices in the Consortium’s facility in Center City Philadelphia and have ready access to events and activities throughout Philadelphia’s vibrant academic and cultural communities.

Fellowships support scholars in the history of science, technology or medicine who would like to use collections at two or more Consortium member institutions. All scholars whose research will benefit from use of the collections are eligible to apply. Candidates who live 100 or more miles from the collections they will use will receive some preference.

Fellowships support female scholars whose academic path has not followed the traditional path of uninterrupted study. Applicants should be engaged in scholarship that is historical in nature, although the degree may be in related fields, and describe a project that will further enhance women’s roles in history. The fellowship is for one year.

Fellowships support doctoral candidates at a crucial stage of research or in the final year of writing. The fellowships are for one year. for students completing a historical dissertation that interrogates race and gender, though not necessarily in a history department. Applicants must be CCWH members.

The Atkinson Postdoctoral Fellowships in Sustainability address the world’s most pressing sustainability challenges. This  two-year postdoctoral program is unique in that the postdocs link their research at Cornell with external nonacademic partners to advance on-the-ground application of sustainable solutions.  Up to five postdocs are chosen each year.

grants intended to support research by undergraduate and graduate students from any academic institution around the world. These grants can also be used to support collaborative research between faculty, students, and outside experts in urban and landscape studies.Grant recipients typically come from the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, urban history, historic preservation, and city and regional planning, and the research supported by the Stein Institute encompass both urban and suburban development. Grants are expected to address the work and/or ideas of Clarence Stein as expressed in his book, New Towns for America (Reinhold, 1957), broadly interpreted.

A 9 month work experience program in public affairs

intended to assist the research (transportation, living expenses at a site, supplies) of a current undergraduate or graduate student who is a member of the Costume Society of America and conducting original research in the field of North American costume.

Fellowships support students in graduate-level programs in science writing, including science writing about medicine, health, technology and the environment for the general public. The fellowship is a one-time award intended to enable the student to complete the requirements of their respective graduate program. Funds may be used toward tuition and fees, living expenses, equipment, and travel.
