Scholarships

Fellowships support graduate students in intensive Urdu study through a language immersion program based at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in Pakistan. Jointly administered by the America Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS) and the Berkeley Urdu Language Program in Pakistan (BULPIP) at ISAS in the University of California, Berkeley. Fellowships support graduate students in electrical engineering, applied physics, or related fields whose research will promote the advancement of microwave theory and its applications, including RF, microwave, millimeter-wave, and terahertz technologies. The fellowships are for one year, renewable for a second year.

Fellowships support doctoral students pursuing studies in the areas of electrical insulation and dielectric phenomena of interest to the Society, and are open to suitable candidates from all over the world. Research topics may cover a broad scope and include insulating media, their electric and dielectric properties, breakdown, charge transport and electrostatics, high voltage effects, and related subjects. The fellowship is for one year.

ellowships support PhD level study and research in all areas of interest to the EDS, including of engineering, physics, theory, experiment and simulation of electron and ion devices involving insulators, metals, organic materials, plasmas, semiconductors, quantum-effect materials, vacuum, and emerging materials. Specific applications of these devices include bioelectronics, biomedical, computation, communications, displays, electro and micro mechanics, imaging, micro actuators, optical, photovoltaics, power, sensors and signal processing. At least one fellowship will be awarded in each of the following geographical regions every year: Americas, Europe/Middle East/Africa, and Asia & Pacific. The fellowship is for one year.

The Fellowship supports full-time graduate or postdoctoral work in the history of electrical science and technology at a college or university of recognized standing. The Fellowship offers support for one year.

This one-year scholarship supports IEEE student members pursuing master’s degrees in electrical engineering.

Grants support research connected with identifiable component of the CIS (neural networks, fuzzy systems, or evolutionary computation). They intended to cover the expenses related to a visit to another university, institute or research agency for collaboration with an identified researcher in the field of interest of the applicant. In certain cases, the scholarship may also be used to cover expenses related to support the student at their home institution for intensive work on a particular project, if – due to extenuating circumstances – such work cannot be continued as scheduled during the regular academic semester. Fellowships support student members pursuing graduate education in electro-optics, lasers, photonics, optics, or closely related fields. IFT Food Laws and Regulations Division Scholarship for MS or PhD candidates studying food science with an interest in food laws, regulation, food policy, agriculture policy, or nutrition policy. Award amount: $1,500.

IFT Nutraceutical and Functional Foods Division Scholarship for MS or PhD students in the field of nutraceuticals and functional foods and the contributions to these disciplines. Award amount: $1,000.

IFT Food Microbiology Division Scholarship (Graduate) for MS or PhD students studying food microbiology. Award amount: $1,000.

IFT Sensory and Consumer Sciences Division Silver Celebration PhD Degree Scholarship for PhD students conducting research focused on food sensory and consumer science. Award amount: $5,000.

IFT Sensory and Consumer Sciences Division Silver Celebration MS Scholarship for a first or second year graduate student pursuing an MS in sensory and consumer science. Award amount: $2,000.

Mike Jimenez Scholarship Sponsored by the IFT International Division for an MS or PhD student studying food science, with a focus in food security, global development or nutrition in the developing world. Award amount: $1,000.

Dr. Richard L. Hall Scholarship in Flavor Science for an MS or PhD student whose research is in the area of the safety assessment of flavors. Award amount: $2,000.

Scholarships are for master’s and doctoral students pursuing a graduate degree in food science. The scholarships offer support for one year.

Feeding Tomorrow Graduate Scholarship. For master’s and Ph.D. students demonstrating exceptional scholastic achievements, leadership experience, and a devotion to the food science and technology profession. Award amount: $2,000-5,000.

Edlong Dairy Technologies Scholarship. For master’s and Ph.D. students pursuing a degree in food science with an emphasis on dairy flavors and/or dairy science. Award amount: $2,000.

Gerber Endowment in Pediatric Nutrition. For master’s and Ph.D. students conducting research in nutrition with an emphasis on pediatrics. Award amount: $3,000.

Institute for Thermal Processing Specialists Ph.D. Degree Scholarship. For Ph.D. students studying food science, food engineering, or food microbiology as it relates to food preservation. Award amount: $2,000.
