Kurt Weill Foundation for Music Grants for Scholarly Research

The Foundation supports scholarly research pertaining to Kurt Weill, Lotte Lenya, and Marc Blitzstein through the following opportunities:

  • Kurt Weill Dissertation Fellowship to assist doctoral students conducting research on Weill, Lenya and/or Blitzstein-related topics.
  • Publication Assistance to subvent expenses related to preparing manuscripts for publication in a recognized scholarly medium, including editing, indexing, design, and reproduction fees.
  • Research and Travel Grant for research and travel expenses to the Weill-Lenya Research Center and other locations of primary source material.

Latham & Watkins Summer Diversity Internship for First Year Law Students

Law students who have just finished their first year of law school and who are committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and who also possess a long-term interest in practicing law in a global law firm. Fellows participate in the program for a total of ten weeks during the summer, with the first 5-6 weeks spent in one of Latham & Watkins’ US offices and the remaining portion of the ten weeks spent with one of the firm’s clients. Fellows attend Latham’s annual Diversity Leadership Academy. The internship is for ten weeks.

General Track: for students interested in working on matters across all of Latham’s practice groups.

Intellectual Property Track: for students with a technical background, including a degree in engineering, computer science, chemistry, biology, or physics, and who are committed to pursuing a career in intellectual property law.  Applicants for this track must apply to the Chicago, Silicon Valley, or Washington, D.C. offices.

LatinX44 Scholar Program

The program will award at least 10 scholarships to Latinx students to help fund an unpaid or underfunded public service-oriented internship in Washington, DC or virtually (given the pandemic). Each scholarship recipient will be awarded $1,500 for a summer 2021 internship. In addition, scholarship recipients will be paired with a mentor and professional development opportunities throughout the program and beyond.
