Latham & Watkins Summer Diversity Internship for First Year Law Students Law students who have just finished their first year of law school and who are committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and who also possess a long-term interest in practicing law in a global law firm. Fellows participate in the program for a total of ten weeks during the summer, with the first 5-6 weeks spent in one of Latham & Watkins’ US offices and the remaining portion of the ten weeks spent with one of the firm’s clients. Fellows attend Latham’s annual Diversity Leadership Academy. The internship is for ten weeks. General Track: for students interested in working on matters across all of Latham’s practice groups. Intellectual Property Track: for students with a technical background, including a degree in engineering, computer science, chemistry, biology, or physics, and who are committed to pursuing a career in intellectual property law. LatinX44 Scholar Program The program will award at least 10 scholarships to Latinx students to help fund an unpaid or underfunded public service-oriented internship in Washington, DC or virtually (given the pandemic). Each scholarship recipient will be awarded $1,500 for a summer 2021 internship.
