Leifur Eiríksson Foundation Scholarship

The Leifur Eiríksson Foundation funds scholars who are US citizens or permanent residents from U.S. universities for graduate research or study at universities in Iceland, and scholars who are Icelandic citizens or permanent residents from universities in Iceland to conduct research or study at universities in the United States.

Lemmermann Foundation Scholarship in Humanities & Classical Studies for Research in Rome

Scholarships support master’s and doctoral student research in the classical studies and humanities. Topic of research must be related to Rome and the Roman culture of any period, from the Pre-Roman period to the present day time. Applicants must provide evidence for their need to study and carry out research in Rome. The scholarship offers support for one year.

LEVIT Summer Arabic Scholarship

The Summer Scholarship is designed for anyone interested in learning Arabic land experiencing a linguistic and cultural immersion in the Levant. Students gain a deeper knowledge of the Levantine Dialect (Amiyeh) as well as familiarity with history, culture and other sociopolitical aspects of Lebanon. You must have beginner or intermediate level of Levantine dialect.

The Albert M. Greenfield Foundation Dissertation Fellowship supports dissertation research in residence at the Library Company on any subject relevant to its collections.  The holdings include the nation’s second largest collection of pre-1801 American imprints and one of the largest collections of 18th-century British books in America. Fellows must be continuously in residence at the Library Company in Philadelphia for the duration of their fellowships.

Residential fellowships support use of the collections for research in a variety of fields and disciplines relating to the history of America and the Atlantic world from the 17th through the 19th centuries. The holdings include the nation’s second largest collection of pre-1801 American imprints and one of the largest collections of 18th-century British books in America. Fellows must be continuously in residence at the Library Company in Philadelphia for the duration of their fellowships.

The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Postdoctoral Fellowship
Fellowships support research in residence at the Library Company on any subject relevant to its collections, which are capable of supporting research in a variety of fields and disciplines relating to the history of America and the Atlantic world form the 17th through the 19th centuries. Fellowships are for individuals who have completed their formal professional training. Consequently, degree candidates and individuals seeking support for work in pursuit of a degree are not eligible to hold NEH-supported fellowships. Advanced degree candidates must have completed all requirements, except for the actual conferral of the degree, by the application deadline. Fellowships are restricted to United States Citizens or to foreign nationals who have been living in the United States for at least three years immediately preceding the application deadline. Duration: 4-9 months. Award amount: $4,200 per month for 4-9 months.

Library Company of Philadelphia & The Historical Society of Pennsylvania Short-Term Research Grants

The Library Company of Philadelphia and the Historical Society of Pennsylvania offer short-term travel grants to support research in a variety of fields and disciplines relating to the history of America and the Atlantic world from the 17th through the 19th centuries, as well as Mid-Atlantic regional history to the present. Topics include: the history of women and African-Americans, popular literature, business and banking, popular medicine, philanthropy and reform, education, natural sciences, technology, art, architecture, German Americana, American Judaica, and a host of other subjects. Grants are for one month.
