The National Medical Fellowship program is dedicated to increasing the number of underrepresented minority physicians and other professionals in the healthcare workforce. The organization offers a variety of scholarships and awards.

National Nuclear Security Administration Laboratory Residency Graduate Fellowship

The US Department of Energy is currently accepting applications for graduate residency fellowships at the National Nuclear Security Administration Laboratory. This program is intended for graduate students pursuing degrees in fields relevant to the stewardship of the nation’s nuclear stockpile: namely engineering and applied sciences, physics, materials, mathematics, and computational science. Fellowships include at least two 12-week research residencies at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories, or the Nevada National Security Site. Fellows are encouraged to extend these residencies to carry out thesis research and other studies at these facilities.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association: EPP/MSI Undergraduate Scholarship Program

The EPP/MSI Undergraduate Scholarship provides funds for two years of undergraduate study to rising junior undergraduate students majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields that directly support NOAA’s mission. Participants conduct research at a NOAA facility during two paid summer internships. Since 2001, over 186 students have completed the program and over 75% go on to graduate school.

National Society of Arts and Letters Winston Classical Voice Scholarship

for young classical singers between the ages of 16 and 22. Applicants must demonstrate exceptional talent and promise of future success. The scholarship funds are only for private study, special training or personal advancement in the applicant’s vocal career. They can be used for workshops, voice teachers, summer programs, etc. The funds cannot be used for college tuition, housing or travel. In most years, as many as eight to ten scholarships are awarded in varying amounts.

National Society of The Colonial Dames of America (NSCDA) American Indian Nurse Scholarship Program

gives students of American Indian descent the opportunity to pursue careers in nursing, health care, and health education. The students are expected to return to work among their people to help improve health care. Some students work on reservations, and others find employment in hospitals in areas largely populated by American Indians.
