Singer/songwriter/clawhammer banjo player Abigail Washburn (Béla Fleck duo, Sparrow Quartet, Uncle Earl) creates inventive cross-cultural takes on folk and old-time music with haunting, bare-bones songs, evocative vocals and earthy sophistication. Fluent in Mandarin and armed with profound connections to communities across the Pacific, her efforts to share international musical traditions exist with the hope that cultural understanding and the communal experience of beauty and sound rooted in tradition will lead the way to a richer existence.
