The Maylon Smith Scholarship Research Award annually awards up to $1,000 to selected graduate students in psychology to advance research on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI). The award represents one of the division’s major efforts to mentor and support science in LGBT psychology by encouraging the work of young researchers.

Mayo Clinic’s Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program gives you more than just work experience in a lab. As a SURF fellow you will conduct your own small research project or work on part of an ongoing research investigation for 10 weeks, develop your technical skills, and participate in a special weekly seminar series that introduces you to rapidly progressing research areas.

McCleary Law Fellows Program

HRC appoints up to three full-time or part-time Law Fellows for the spring and fall semesters and up to three full-time summer Law Fellows to work with HRC attorneys, outside counsel from major national law firms, lobbyists, and organizational allies and congressional and administration staff members on legislative, regulatory and internal corporate matters. Practice areas include constitutional, contract, education, employment, disability, family, benefits, tax, health care, immigration, intellectual property, military, municipal and real estate law. Fellows undertake projects involving sophisticated legal research and writing, analysis and drafting of legislation and administrative regulations, legislative and regulatory advocacy and coalition work.

McNair Scholars Program

Established at UNC Chapel Hill in 2009, the Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program is designed to prepare undergraduate students for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. McNair Scholars are either first-generation college students from low-income backgrounds, or members of a group traditionally underrepresented in graduate education and have demonstrated strong academic potential. The goal of the McNair Scholars Program is to provide support and guidance for these students as they pursue graduate school, thus increasing graduate degree completion for students from underrepresented segments of society.

Medgar and Myrlie Evers Research Fellowship

Offered in partnership with the Medgar and Myrlie Evers Institute, this annual fellowship awards a $5,000 stipend to one graduate student or early-career faculty member to conduct research using the Mississippi archives at MDAH for a minimum of two weeks during the summer. Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Completion Fellowships

Fellowships support advanced graduate students in the humanities and related social sciences in the last year of Ph.D. dissertation writing. Applicants must be prepared to complete their dissertations during the fellowship year. The fellowship may be carried out in residence at the fellow’s home institution, abroad, or at another appropriate site for the research. The fellowship offers one year of support.
